Two of County Wexford's best-known charity sea swims are preparing to make a splash once again, raising vital funds while bringing communities together for important causes.
Speaking on Morning Mix, Bernard McGuinness, organiser of the Bow Tie Dip, Eileen Rowe from the Wexford Dip in the Nip, and Madeleine Quirke, Chairperson of It's Good2Talk Counselling Services, highlighted how both events offer far more than a refreshing dip in the sea.
The Bow Tie Dip takes place on Saturday, 18th July and raises funds for It's Good2Talk Counselling Services, which provides person-centred counselling and mental health support. Bernard said the event was created to encourage conversations around men's mental health, helping to break down the stigma surrounding asking for help while challenging participants to step outside their comfort zones.
Madeleine Quirke explained how the funds raised make a real difference, allowing It's Good2Talk to continue providing accessible counselling and support to people when they need it most.
Meanwhile, the Wexford Dip in the Nip returns on Sunday, 26th July, raising money for Hope Cancer Support Centre. Eileen Rowe said the annual event has grown into a much-loved community gathering, with many participants taking part in honour of loved ones, celebrating survivorship, or supporting those currently living with cancer.
She said the atmosphere on the morning is one of encouragement, friendship and hope, while the funds raised help Hope Cancer Support Centre continue providing essential services to people across County Wexford whose lives have been been affected by a cancer diagnosis.
Although supporting different charities, all three guests agreed that both sea dips share a common goal, bringing people together, encouraging conversation, and reminding everyone that no one has to face life's challenges alone.
People are encouraged to register, support the fundraisers or simply come along on the day to cheer on participants and help raise awareness for two very worthwhile causes.
