Uisce Éireann advises of planned outage to facilitate water main repair in parts of Wexford Town

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise of a planned water outage which may impact customers in parts of Wexford Town and surrounding areas on Sunday, 2 November. The outage is necessary to facilitate critical water main repairs at the water treatment plant in Newtown and connection works in the area. Customers in Carraiglawn, Hillstreet, Wygram, George’s Street, Rowe Street and surrounding areas may experience some disruption to their supply on  Sunday, 2 November from 10am until 4pm. As part of these works, a section of aged water main from the 1950’s will be replaced with new pipe work, which will lead to a more resilient water supply for the community. Uisce Éireann’s Padraig Lyng said, “We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply. These works are taking place out-of-hours on Sunday in an effort to minimise the impact to the wider community. We would like to thank our customers in advance for their patience and co-operation.” Following the completion of the works, it can take two to three hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network, particularly for those properties on higher ground or at the end of the network. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
