Consumers are being warned the highly poisonous gas carbon monoxide is produced anywhere a fuel is burned, not just in the home.
The warning comes from the National Standards Authority of Ireland at the beginning of Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week. On average six people die in Ireland every year from carbon monoxide poisoning - however it's estimated over 730,000 adults in the country don't have a carbon monoxide alarm.
