The moon will be the closest to earth it has been in 69 years tonight, resulting in a rare 'super moon'. As a result it will appear 7 percent bigger and up to 15 percent brighter. Star gazers will also be treated to an additional low hanging moon effect - caused by it being close to the horizon. The best time to view the moon will be when the sun is setting this evening around 5pm
