A Wexford councillor has raised serious concerns about the impact of water infrastructure shortages on housing development across the county.
Councillor Barbara-Anne Murphy says Uisce Éireann is effectively acting like a planning authority, as a lack of access to both clean water and wastewater facilities is putting the brakes on new builds. She highlighted that while Bunclody has adequate wastewater infrastructure, the town has now run out of fresh water. Meanwhile, areas like Clohamon, Kilmyshall and Ferns lack sewage capacity entirely, making development impossible. Speaking on Morning Mix, Councillor Murphy asked: "Where are people supposed to build?"
