The proposed university campus in Wexford which Murphy sees as crucial for attracting young people and fostering job creation is a key focus for the Chamber. He also addressed the need for more support for local family businesses which are the backbone of Wexford’s economy and criticized the current tax system which he believes is burdensome for small enterprises. He emphasized the importance of creating a "winning culture" in business and sport, highlighting an upcoming event—the President’s Lunch on February 19th at the Riverside Park Hotel in Enniscorthy - this event aims to raise funds to promote Wexford’s business environment and foster greater ambition and collaboration among local enterprises. Looking to the future, the President expressed his commitment to collaborating with local government and organizations to push for the infrastructure and investment needed to drive Wexford forward. Despite challenges, he remains positive, noting that many people are moving to Wexford for its quality of life and the goal now is to create a sustainable environment that allows young people to thrive locally without having to leave for opportunities elsewhere.
