The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) has launched its 2025 Construction Safety Campaign, calling on Wexford-based companies to go "Back to Basics" and strengthen safety protocols on site. Running from October 13th to 24th, the campaign focuses on preventing falls from height, which have been the leading cause of fatalities in the sector. In the past decade, over 70 construction workers in Ireland have lost their lives due to falls, with six fatalities recorded this year alone. CIF’s Director of Safety, Education & Training, Sean Downey, emphasized the need for companies in Wexford to review their safety measures and ensure that all workers are adequately protected, particularly when working at heights of two metres or more, where legal safety standards apply. The campaign highlights five key pillars: leadership in safety, working with high-risk utilities, developing the next generation of workers, managing critical risks and specifically tackling falls from height. Wexford construction firms are encouraged to host toolbox talks, workshops and site-wide safety events to address these vital issues.
