Wexford County Council Chief Executive Eddie Taaffe has addressed concerns over the eviction of 36 families in Hazelwood Estate in Bridgetown, confirming that the Council is closely monitoring the situation.
While some misinformation has circulated regarding the Council's ability to purchase all the properties, Eddie Taaffe has stressed that the Council is limited by national funding criteria and can only acquire properties under certain conditions.
He confirmed that the Residential Tenancies Board is actively involved and advising tenants on their rights.
Speaking on MM the Chief Executive also confirmed that there has been no engagement with the landlord yet but reiterated the Council's willingness to cooperate in resolving the issue
