Wexford Credit Union has announced a new partnership with Wexford FC, in a move aimed at strengthening community ties and supporting the development of football across the county.
Under the agreement, the Credit Union comes on board as a Pillar Sponsor and Foundation Partner, reflecting a shared commitment to community engagement, grassroots sport, and inclusive participation.
Wexford FC plays a significant role locally through its senior teams, academy structures, and a grassroots network that includes more than 50 junior clubs. The club has also earned recognition for its inclusive initiatives, including programmes for Down Syndrome players and Powerchair football.
Speaking about the partnership, David McGuire said the collaboration aligns closely with the Credit Union’s community-first values.
He said they will be sponsoring the men’s senior team and becoming closely involved in the social side of the club. He highlighted Wexford FC’s strong focus on youth development, as well as its inclusive teams, saying it reflects the organisation’s ethos of opening facilities to the wider community.
Mr McGuire added that there are ambitious plans for growth and development in Wexford town, and said the Credit Union is keen to play a role in that progress while encouraging the public to get involved.
Both organisations say the partnership will also support a range of community and educational initiatives, helping to strengthen connections with local clubs, volunteers, and families.
Wexford FC has welcomed the announcement, saying it looks forward to working together to further develop the game at all levels across the county.
