Wexford Now Under Status Yellow Warning With Tempertures To Rise

County Wexford is now under a Status Yellow High Temperature warning as temperatures are expected to climb towards 29 degrees.

The Met Éireann warning covers all of Leinster as well as County Tipperary and came into effect at 6am this morning, Wednesday.

It will remain in place until 6am on Friday.

Forecasters say maximum temperatures will exceed 27 degrees in places, while night-time temperatures are expected to remain above 15 degrees.

Met Éireann has highlighted a number of potential impacts from the hot conditions, including heat stress, uncomfortable sleeping conditions and animal welfare concerns.

Water safety is also being highlighted, with increased numbers of people expected to visit beaches, lakes and rivers during the warm spell.

For today, scattered rain or showers will gradually ease, with warm spells of sunshine developing — particularly across the South East and eastern parts of the country.

Temperatures nationally are forecast to reach between 23 and 29 degrees, with the highest values expected in Leinster.

Tonight will remain mild and muggy, with temperatures not falling much below 15 to 19 degrees.

Another warm or hot day is forecast for Thursday, with temperatures again potentially reaching 29 degrees.

The Status Yellow warning remains in place for Wexford until 6am on Friday.
