Wexford people asked to watch out for false widow spider

We're being encouraged to keep an eye out for a dangerous household spider which is particularly common in Wexford.

The false widow spider originally came to Ireland around 20 years ago due to the transport of foreign goods into the country. The bite from the spider is not deadly but can produce a large swelling and leave a lasting rash. There are a high number of cases of these spiders found in the county as well as Dublin and Cork. Researchers from NUIG have released a new guide to help deal with bites from the false widow spider.
