Wexford records highest-ever first-half home completions

Wexford has recorded its highest number of home completions for the first six months of any year since CSO records began in 2011.

New figures published by the Central Statistics Office show that 561 new dwellings were completed in the county between January and June 2026.

That represents an increase of 24.4% compared with the same period last year, when 451 homes were completed.

The figures have been welcomed by Housing Minister and Wexford TD James Browne, who said they provide an encouraging indication of activity within the housing sector.

He said the strong first-half performance, together with more than 600 new-home commencements recorded in Wexford during the same period, shows that Government housing measures are translating into homes being delivered on the ground.

Minister Browne said there is still room for improvement and that he wants to see momentum continue during the second half of the year, when housing completions typically increase.

Nationally, the CSO recorded 16,679 new dwelling completions between January and June 2026, up 10.8 per cent on the same period in 2025 and the highest level of first-half-year completions on record.

The Wexford figures build on the county’s strong housing output in 2025 and provide a positive basis for overall housing delivery for the remainder of 2026.
