Wexford’s Robyn O'Connor Set for Ireland Debut in Six Nations Squad

Ireland Women’s head coach Scott Bemand has named his 36-player squad for the upcoming Women's Six Nations Championship — and there’s a strong Wexford presence making headlines.

Three Wexford players have been included, underlining the county’s growing influence in Irish rugby. Robyn O'Connor is set to make her international debut, a significant milestone in her career, while Aoife Wafer and Niamh O'Dowd also earn their places in the squad. The inclusion of the trio highlights the strength of talent emerging from Wexford, with all three expected to play important roles during the campaign.

O’Connor’s selection is particularly notable as she is among nine uncapped players named, signalling a new generation coming through the ranks. The squad will once again be captained by Erin King, who leads a blend of experience and fresh talent.

Among the new faces in the forwards are Jemima Adams-Verling, Sophie Barrett, Beth Buttimer, Eilis Cahill, and Aoibheann McGrath. In the backs, O’Connor is joined by fellow debutants Alana McInerney, Caitriona Finn, and Niamh Gallagher.

Ireland will kick off their Six Nations campaign away to England on April 11th, with optimism high that this mix of established internationals and exciting newcomers,  including the standout Wexford contingent, can make a strong impact.
