57 per cent increase in numbers on waiting lists at wexford general
New figures published by the National Treatment Purchase Fund show there were 280 adults and children waiting for in-patient and day case appointments at the hospital at the end of September. That’s an increase of 102 in the year. Wexford Fianna Fáil TD John Browne has described the annual increase as a ‘disgrace’, particularly at a time when the Government is seeking further cuts to local health services next year. The health budget overrun for this year is currently 351 million euro while the Government is also seeking to slash another 666 million from the health services next year.
