Bluebird Care Immersive Experience Bus Arrives in Wexford for World Alzheimer’s Day

People in Wexford are being given the opportunity to experience, for a few minutes, some of the challenges faced by people living with dementia.

Bluebird Care’s Immersive Experience Bus is on Wexford Quay today, Monday, September 21st, to mark World Alzheimer’s Day.

The bus is offering members of the public the chance to take part in a Virtual Dementia Tour, designed to provide an insight into what everyday life can feel like for someone living with dementia.

Participants spend around eight minutes wearing gloves, goggles and headphones while attempting a series of ordinary everyday tasks.

Many find the tasks extremely difficult, with some unable to complete them.

The aim of the experience is to build greater understanding and empathy around dementia and highlight the challenges people living with the condition can face.

The bus will be on Wexford Quay from 10am until 4.30pm today.

Broadcaster Teresa Mannion has joined Bluebird Care this year as its National Awareness Partner and is supporting the campaign.
