Families and businesses in Campile are set to benefit from a stronger and more dependable water supply following the completion of upgrade works by Uisce Éireann.
More than 1.85 kilometres of ageing water mains have been replaced with modern pipes as part of the project.
The older pipes had been prone to bursts and leaks, resulting in interruptions to water supplies and the loss of treated drinking water.
Uisce Éireann says the upgraded network will provide greater reliability for homes and businesses in the town.
Wexford Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage James Browne TD has welcomed the completion of the works, saying a reliable water supply is fundamental to family and community life.
The project was delivered as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme, which aims to reduce water loss and improve the resilience of the public water network.
Uisce Éireann says national leakage has now fallen from 49% in 2014 to 36% — its lowest level ever.
Contractor Shareridge Ltd delivered the Campile works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
Some remaining reinstatement works will be completed in the coming weeks.
Uisce Éireann is also reminding members of the public that leaks on the public water network can be reported directly to the utility.
