Castlebridge is marking 75 years since it became the birthplace of the Guinness Book of Records, with a week of special events planned from November 10th to 15th.
Mairead Stafford and John Ryan from Castlebridge Inspire joined Alan on Morning Mix to discuss the celebrations, which include a special event at Castlebridge National School on November 10th, an online debate panel that evening and a black-tie dinner on November 14th, with representatives from Guinness World Records in attendance.
The celebrations will conclude on November 15th with the inaugural Eamonn Keaveney 28km Barefoot Walk from Rosslare to Castlebridge. John Ryan arrived in the studio barefoot to help highlight the upcoming challenge.
The conversation also looked ahead to an ambitious attempt to set a new record for the world's longest argument, planned for Wexford next May. Organisers are hoping to recruit 5,000 volunteers to take part in the attempt, which has not been attempted in 30 years.
Castlebridge Inspire is encouraging the community to get involved in the celebrations and be part of this special milestone in the village's history.
