CCPC Urges Immediate Action as Rathwood Examiner Contacts 7,000 Customers

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is advising thousands of affected customers to take immediate steps after the Examiner appointed to Rathwood Home and Garden World Limited confirmed contact with approximately 7,000 consumers awaiting refunds or delivery of goods.

The company, commonly known as Rathwood, is currently in insolvency proceedings, leaving many customers uncertain about outstanding orders and payments.

The CCPC says those affected should act without delay to protect their financial interests.

What Customers Are Being Advised to Do

Consumers who have outstanding orders are being urged to take two key steps:

  • Request a chargeback from their bank or card provider if they have not already done so

  • Register their claim using the online Customer Enquiry Form issued by the Examiner

The CCPC is encouraging customers to carefully review all correspondence received from the Examiner and to respond as quickly as possible.

Gráinne Griffin, Director of Communications, Consumer Information and Financial Education at the CCPC, said consumers should act promptly.

“We advise any affected consumers to review the correspondence from the Examiner carefully and to complete the form provided as soon as possible. Those who wish to request a chargeback should contact their bank or card provider immediately.”

The CCPC, which is responsible for enforcing competition and consumer protection law in Ireland, says it is focused on ensuring consumers are aware of their rights and the steps they can take when businesses enter insolvency or fail to deliver goods and services.

The organisation is reminding consumers that chargeback requests should be made as soon as possible through their bank or card provider, as time limits may apply depending on the payment method used.

Customers can also find guidance on their rights and further information through official CCPC channels.

As the situation develops, affected consumers are being urged to act quickly to ensure they do not miss deadlines for refunds or claims.
