There are reports one of Wexford's largest employers is going to temporarily shut down at the end of this month.
Staff at Integer in New Ross have been told the company will close for two weeks between July 27th and August 10th.
Staff have been told the shutdown is in relation to an inventory review and reports suggest their leave will be unpaid.
Local Independent councillor Michael Sheehan says it's important clarity is given on the matter.
"I was made aware over the weekend, the official statement from Integer says there's a customer inventory and they will close for two weeks and that's as much as they're saying at the moment.
"It's a situation I'll be monitoring closely, I'll be talking to officials in County Hall this afternoon to ensure they're engaging to make sure this is just a temporary blip.
"Let's just hope it is and that it is an inventory issue and when that's sorted it'll be back open."
Councillor Sheehan says the company is vital to the town and news like this will be of great concern to so many.
"Integer is a great employer, around 1500 people in the region. Certainly in New Ross, it's the largest employer by far and probably one of the biggest in County Wexford.
"We've always had positive engagement with Integer so let's just hope it is what it is and it's not what it's not."
