Local Aontú councillor Jim Codd has raised concerns about school capacity in Bridgetown, amid continued residential development in the area.
Bridgetown and its surrounding areas have seen a number of new homes built, with further developments being proposed.
While welcoming the provision of new housing, Councillor Codd says the need for additional school places is not being adequately addressed alongside residential growth.
Speaking on Morning Mix, he said existing schools are struggling to accommodate the increasing number of pupils and called for government intervention to ensure educational facilities keep pace with the area's growing population.
He says greater consideration must be given to school provision as further housing developments are planned for the area.
