County wexford man guilty of raping and sexually abusing his daughters
A County Wexford father has been convicted of 30 counts of raping and sexually abusing his two young daughters. The 69-year-old, who cannot be named to protect his victim’s identity, was found guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court. The abuse spanned a 13 year period and began when the girls were six and four years old respectively. He had pleaded not guilty to 13 counts of rape and six counts of indecent assault against the older victim and 11 counts of raping her younger sister. The abuse occurred in two family homes in County Wexford between 1975 and 1988. Following the verdicts, Mr Justice Gareth Sheehan thanked the jury for their time and attention. He revoked the accused’s bail and remanded him in custody until sentencing on January 27th, 2014.
