Deadline Today for Objections to Enniscorthy Christmas Lights Road Closures

Members of the public have until 12 noon today, Tuesday, November 3rd, to lodge objections to proposed road closures for this year's Christmas lights switch-on in Enniscorthy.

The festive event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 21st, with Wexford County Council proposing to close a number of town-centre streets to traffic to facilitate the celebrations.

Under the proposals, the affected roads would be closed between midday and 8pm.

The proposed closures include Main Street, from its junction with Irish Street to Castle Street, along with Castle Street, Castle Hill, Church Street, Friary Hill, Friary Place, Market Square, Weafer Street and Rafter Street.

Alternative routes would be available through Cathedral Street, Duffry Hill, Parnell Road, Arnold's Cross, Saint John's Road and Mill Park Road, using the R890 and R744.

Wexford County Council says diversion routes will be signposted and that no vehicular access will be facilitated on the affected roads during the proposed closure period.

The arrangements are intended to accommodate the Christmas lights switch-on ceremony, one of the seasonal events planned for the town.

Anyone wishing to object to the proposed closures must lodge their objection in writing before noon today.

Submissions can be made through Wexford County Council's online consultation portal or by writing to the County Secretary at County Hall, Wexford.

The road closures remain subject to the statutory process, and motorists are advised to watch for further updates on the arrangements ahead of the November 21st event.
