Discover Wexford's Forest Gems This Summer

Coillte is encouraging people across Wexford to make the most of the summer by exploring the forests on their doorstep as part of its "Start at Your Local Coillte Forest" campaign.

The campaign highlights Tintern Abbey, Shelmaliere/Forth Mountain and Carrickbyrne Hill as ideal destinations for family days out, scenic walks and outdoor adventures.

Coillte manages more than 260 recreation sites across Ireland, including 3,000 kilometres of waymarked walking trails, and estimates its forests attract around 20 million visits every year.

In Wexford, Tintern Abbey offers woodland walks and historic surroundings, Shelmaliere/Forth Mountain boasts panoramic coastal views, while Carrickbyrne Hill features three Slí na Sláinte walking routes with links to the county's rich heritage.

Chief Executive Imelda Hurley said people don't have to travel far to enjoy memorable outdoor experiences and that Coillte is continuing to invest in recreation facilities and visitor destinations across the country.

People can find their nearest Coillte forest and plan a visit by visiting the Coillte website.
