€60,000 Boost For Family Resource Centres Across Co Wexford

Six Family Resource Centres across County Wexford are to share €60,000 in new Government capital funding.

Centres in Gorey, Raheen, Wexford town, Maudlintown, Ramsgrange and Taghmon will each receive a once-off allocation of €10,000.

The funding forms part of a €1.36 million national investment announced by Minister for Children, Disability and Equality Norma Foley for Ireland's network of 136 Family Resource Centres.

Individual centres will be able to decide how best to use the money to meet local needs.

Eligible projects include minor building works and refurbishment, accessibility improvements, health and safety measures, furniture and equipment, ICT upgrades, telecommunications, digital systems and energy-efficiency improvements.

Minister Foley said Family Resource Centres are at the heart of communities and that the funding would allow each centre to invest in areas that would make the greatest practical difference locally.

She said this could include improving buildings, making centres more accessible, replacing essential equipment or improving spaces used by children and families.

Family Resource Centres provide a wide range of services including family support, counselling, education and training, advocacy, youth and community groups and practical assistance to individuals and families.

The County Wexford centres receiving funding are:

• Gorey Family Resource Centre
• Raheen Community Development Group Ltd – ARC, Raheen, Clonroche
• Southend Community Development Group Ltd, Maudlintown, Wexford
• South West Wexford Community Development Group, Ramsgrange, New Ross
• Taghmon Family Resource Centre Ltd
• Templeshannon Community & Childcare Ltd.

The €10,000 allocations cannot be used for salaries, wages, overtime or other staffing costs.

All of the funding must be spent and accounted for by 31 December 2026.
