Slaney Search and Rescue is to receive €90,000 towards the purchase of a new rescue jeep.
The funding has been announced by Wexford Minister James Browne under Measure 2 of the 2026 CLÁR programme.
The new vehicle will serve the River Slaney around the Ballyhogue district and will support the voluntary rescue team in carrying out search, rescue and emergency response work.
The CLÁR programme provides funding for small-scale infrastructure projects in designated rural areas, with Measure 2 supporting mobility, cancer care, first responder and Meals on Wheels transport.
Announcing the funding, Minister Browne said Slaney Search and Rescue provides a vital service to the community and regularly responds rapidly and professionally in difficult and distressing circumstances.
He said he had worked with Minister Dara Calleary to secure the funding and described access to a new jeep as essential to the group’s ongoing work.
Further announcements under Measures 1 and 3 of the 2026 CLÁR programme are expected later this year.
