Wexford homeowners and businesses looking to reduce their energy bills will have an opportunity to get free expert advice at a major Energy Expo in Enniscorthy next week.
The Wexford Energy Expo takes place at Astro Active Community Centre in Bellfield on Thursday, October 22nd, from 10.30am to 4pm, with around 30 exhibitors expected.
The free event will bring together specialists in home retrofitting, electric vehicles, business energy efficiency and environmental research, offering practical advice on cutting costs and accessing available grants.
Motorists considering switching to an electric vehicle can hear directly from EV and hybrid owners during a panel discussion at 11.30am, moderated by DoneDeal Cars' Paddy Comyn.
A selection of electric and hybrid vehicles will also be on display outside the centre.
At 12.30pm, local business owners can learn how to reduce energy costs and improve efficiency, with experts from Wexford Local Enterprise Office, EcoMerit and the South East Energy Agency discussing practical solutions and financial supports.
Homeowners considering insulation, heating upgrades or retrofitting older properties can attend a dedicated session at 2pm, featuring representatives from Wexford County Council and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, alongside homeowners who have already completed retrofit projects.
One of the key local features will be a presentation on air quality in Enniscorthy by researchers from University College Cork.
At 3pm, Professor John Wenger and atmospheric chemistry researcher Shona Brid O'Sullivan will discuss research examining local air quality and the impact of home heating, transport and other environmental factors.
The Expo is being held within Enniscorthy's designated Decarbonisation Zone, which aims to demonstrate practical approaches to climate action.
Visitors can also book free 15-minute consultations with an engineer from the South East Energy Agency for personalised advice on improving energy efficiency in their homes. Those attending are encouraged to bring an electricity bill.
Wexford Local Enterprise Office will also offer free one-to-one business energy clinics between 12 noon and 3pm. Advance booking is required for these consultations.
Everyone attending can enter a free draw for a €500 energy voucher, courtesy of Wexford County Council's Climate Action Team.
Admission is free, with advance registration recommended, although walk-ins are welcome.
