Minister James Browne has welcomed a significant funding allocation of €96,255.86 for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence services in County Wexford. The allocation, announced by Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan, includes €82,044.86 for the Wexford Rape Crisis Centre and €14,211 for Wexford Women’s Refuge, to support essential services for those affected by violence. The funding follows a targeted call by Cuan, the national agency for domestic, sexual and gender-based violence. Minister Browne expressed gratitude for the vital work being done by local services, noting the importance of these organisations in providing support to victims in Wexford. He also called for a collective commitment to a zero tolerance policy towards all forms of sexual and gender-based violence, stressing the need for a culture change within society to eradicate harmful behaviours. In his statement, Browne reiterated the importance of ensuring adequate support for those in need and encouraged individuals to come forward for assistance when necessary. "We must all step up, speak out, and invest in a society that does not tolerate violence in any form," he added.
