Eirgrid dismiss claims of un-used power lines linking wexford to kildare
Claims that there are dis-used power lines which could be upgraded for Eirgrid's proposed pylon interconnector between Munster and Leinster have been refuted. Dave Bernie - a former ESB employee and Ferns native - last week told the Morning Mix that there are a number of lines not in use linking Great Island in County Wexford to Kildare. But John Lowry the Gridlink project manager has dismissed the claims saying there are no un-used 220 kv lines power lines in the South East or across Ireland. Public opposition to the plan has been growing in County Wexford as calls are made for alternative methods of power transfer to be investigated.
