Tributes are being paid following the passing of former Gorey/Courtown councillor and well-known North Wexford community figure Robbie Ireton.
Mr Ireton served for many years as a Labour representative on Wexford County Council and was a strong and familiar voice on issues affecting Gorey, Courtown and the wider North Wexford area.
Throughout his time in public life, he was closely associated with his local community and was known for his commitment to representing the concerns of people living in the area.
Mr Ireton also had a long association with Courtown RNLI, where he served as a volunteer crew member, reflecting his strong involvement in community life beyond local politics.
His passing has prompted tributes from across the community and political life in County Wexford.
Wexford Labour TD George Lawlor has paid tribute to his former party colleague, remembering Mr Ireton's contribution to both the Labour Party and the people of North Wexford.
