Four Wexford Acts Named as Finalists for Ireland’s New Local Hero 2026

Irish Music Month is officially underway as radio stations across the country join forces to showcase more Irish music and homegrown talent.

Wexford has four finalists in the running to be crowned Ireland’s New Local Hero for 2026.

They include Wexford Town singer-songwriter Rachel Grace, who has supported artists including Gavin James, Róisín O, Jack L, Emma Langford and Wallis Bird. She released her debut album Never Grows Old this year and will begin her first headline tour in October, finishing with a hometown show at the Jerome Hynes Theatre in Wexford.

Also shortlisted is Wexford singer-songwriter Ayda, who began writing and performing at 13 through Music Generation Wexford.

Wexford band Stone Blind State, who released their debut album this year to strong reviews, are also finalists, alongside South Wexford hip-hop duo Clueless, known for their playful lyrics and danceable sound.

Freddie Middleton is South East Radio’s Local Hero Award judge.

The grand finale takes place at The Academy in Dublin on Wednesday, October 28th, with the six finalists taking part in industry sessions and networking opportunities.
