Four Wexford drama groups are set to shine at the prestigious All-Ireland Amateur Drama Finals, taking place this May in Athlone. Ballycogley Players, Bridge Drama Group, Wexford Drama Group and Bunclody Kilmyshall Drama Group have all earned their spots in the competition, showcasing the incredible talent within Wexford’s thriving theatre community.
The All-Ireland Amateur Drama Festival, one of the most anticipated events in the Irish amateur drama calendar, brings together the best community theatre groups from across the country. Held annually, the festival celebrates the passion, creativity and dedication of amateur actors, directors and production teams.
The festival is an incredible platform for drama enthusiasts to experience diverse performances, from contemporary plays to classic Irish works. Over the course of the week-long event, the adjudicator will assess every aspect of the productions, including acting, directing, stage design and overall execution. While Ballycogley Players, Bridge Drama Group, Wexford Drama Group, and Bunclody Kilmyshall Drama Group have earned spots in the main section of the competition, Gorey Theatre Group has also qualified for the finals in the confined section. They are performing, Gut directed by Stephen Acton. Gorey Theatre Group, renowned for their dedication to local theatre, will showcase their unique talent in this category.
