A Wexford woman who lost her unborn son because of a road crash says she hopes a new bill means parents don’t have to go through the trauma she did.
Saoirse Aylward says the Director of Public Prosecutions was unable to recognise the loss of her unborn son’s life, as a result of the crash, because it isn’t accounted for in current legislation.
Today, Fine Gael TDs Emer Currie and Barry Ward launched a bill seeking to ensure an unborn child is recognised in their own right within the road traffic offence system.
Ms Aylward says ‘Jax’s Law’ - named after her stillborn son - is significant.
