Free CPR Event To Be Held In Murrintown Community Centre This Month

Residents of Murrintown can learn how to perform CPR at a special event in the village this month.

The Kilmore Area Community First Responders group will host an information evening at the Murrintown Community Centre on the 29th of September.

The group has stretched its operation to cover the Murrintown area and says the event is a chance for them to introduce themselves to the community.

It's all part of World Heart Day which raises awareness about cardiovascular diseases, their risk factors, and prevention methods.

As of July, the Kilmore Area Community First Responders attended the scene of 54 emergency calls and provided assistance to the National Ambulance Service.

The group says their responders are "trained to the highest standards with continued ongoing upskilling. Members are all CFR-C certified through Irish Heart Foundation & PHECC."

It also offers free training to community and other volunteer groups in the area.

There are currently 12 Public Access Defibrillators (PAD’s) located in the group's coverage area which stretches from Kilmore Quay to Mayglass with plans for more extensive coverage in the Murrintown area.

That report was funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
