Free Living Well Expo To Be Held In Wexford Town Next Month

An event designed to help older people in County Wexford will be held in Wexford Town next month.

The Living Well - Ageing Smart Expo showcases the wide range of supports and services available to elderly people who live here.

It will include information on accessing housing grants and how to avoid being scammed online.

Wexford County Council says the event will be "delivered in collaboration with Wexford PPN, Age Friendly Wexford, Age Friendly Ireland, and Healthy Age Friendly Homes and is a great opportunity to discover resources that can help you live well and age smart."

Gardai, the Fire Service, the South East Energy Agency and Alzheimer's Society Ireland will all be on hand to answer any questions that the attendees may have.

It comes just days after the Government shelved a scheme allowing older people to downsize their homes.

The Housing Agency is conducting a review into the Older Persons Housing Financial Contribution scheme, which allowed retirees to sell their house to the council if it's too big.

The scheme has been paused for now while that review is being carried out.

Next month's Living Well - Ageing Smart Expo is free and takes place in Whites Hotel on Thursday the 10th of September.

That report was funded by the Local Democracy Reporting Scheme.
