Wexford Gardaí urge road users to take extra care this Bank Holiday weekend

Gardaí in Wexford are urging motorists and other road users to take extra care this October Bank Holiday weekend, as the clocks go back and darker evenings bring additional risks on the roads.

An Garda Síochána and the Road Safety Authority are reminding drivers to slow down, stay alert and never use a mobile phone while driving. Motorists are also being warned never to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Pedestrians and cyclists are being encouraged to wear high-visibility clothing and take extra care in low-light conditions.

So far this year, 151 people have lost their lives on Irish roads, including 29 pedestrians.

Road users are being reminded that everyone has a responsibility to help prevent further tragedies over the Bank Holiday weekend.
