Gorey surgery owed thousands for emergency clinic appointments
Legal communications have been taken with the HSE's Primary Care Reimbursement Service over the non-payment of out-of-hours fees to a County Wexford clinic. The National Association of GPs say the Palms Surgery in Gorey is owed more than 20,000 euro relating to a Saturday morning emergency clinic. The clinic provides emergency cover to practice patients until 12.00 noon. However, the HSE has classified the session as a routine clinic and has refused to honour the consultation fee for the service since April of last year. Doctor Peter Harrington runs surgery. He says if a patient of the surgery has an urgent problem they attend the surgery for care and the HSE are required to pay them fees to look after those patients.
