Great island power plant to be officially opened on friday
An Taoiseach Enda Kenny will officially open the Great Island Combined Gas Cycle Turbine Power Plant on Friday. SSE Airtricity who purchased the south west Wexfor facilit from Endesa in 2012 have spent 350 million euro upgrading the plant. It is now a state of the art energy producer providin power to around half a milion homes in the region. Employing a staff of 40, the plant is also bringing natural gas to County Wexford for the first time.
