Historic First as Ireland’s First-Ever €1 Million Scratch Card Prize Won in Wexford

The National Lottery has announced a landmark moment in Irish lottery history after a player in County Wexford became the first person ever to win €1 million on a Scratch Card.

The life-changing prize was won on the new All Cash Millionaire Scratch Card, which launched earlier this year with the biggest top prize ever offered on an Irish Scratch Card.

The winning retail outlet will be officially revealed tomorrow, Tuesday 19th May, during celebrations planned in Wexford to mark the historic occasion.

National Lottery spokesperson Darragh O’Dwyer described the win as a major milestone.

“This is a huge milestone for the National Lottery as we reveal that the top prize on the All Cash Millionaire Scratch Card, which is a first of its kind in Ireland, has now been won.

“A player in Co. Wexford has scratched their way to €1 million, becoming the first person in Ireland ever to win a €1 million prize on a Scratch Card.

“To mark this historic moment, we’ll be in Wexford tomorrow, Tuesday 19th May, to officially reveal where the winning ticket was sold.”

The National Lottery also highlighted the contribution players make to communities nationwide through ticket sales. Nearly 30 cent of every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes toward Good Causes, supporting sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish language.

Since its establishment 39 years ago, the National Lottery has raised €7 billion for Good Causes across Ireland. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local community projects and initiatives nationwide.
