Ireland Announces Additional €40 Million in Support for Ukraine

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, Helen McEntee TD, has unveiled an additional €40 million in financial support for Ukraine, increasing Ireland's total contribution this year to €65 million. This package builds on €25 million announced earlier in February for energy infrastructure repairs.

The new funding will address immediate humanitarian needs, including shelter, medical care, and maternal healthcare for those most affected by the ongoing conflict. It will also support Ukraine’s long-term recovery, with investments in civil protection infrastructure, healthcare, and progress toward EU membership.

Minister McEntee made the announcement during an official visit to Ukraine, where she met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha. McEntee emphasized Ireland’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of the continuing crisis. The package includes €26.5 million in humanitarian aid and €13.8 million in development and peacebuilding support, with €2 million allocated to Moldova for related challenges.

This is Ireland’s largest humanitarian and development aid contribution to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion in 2022.

Minister Neale Richmond will be discussing this package on Morning Mix today just after 10am
