The New Ross town manager says the Director of the company which owns the albatros building have committed to address issues at the site. He says the type of asbestos used is not the most dangerous and that recent monitoring of airborne asbestos levels in the area were clear. However Eamon Hore says there are safety issues as time goes on which need to be addressed. He says Matt Jeninngs the Director of McDonaghs - who are the owners of the site - has committed to remove the loose fragments of Asbestos sheeting before mid March, that the demolition of all the buildings will be carried out by the end of the year and that a risk assessment will be carried out within a month.
