Kehoe: no european election bid next year
Wexford Fine Gael TD Paul Kehoe has ruled himself out of standing for the European Parliament elections next year, even though his ministerial colleague Brian Hayes is to seriously consider doing so. Over the past few months speculation haad been rife that the Government Chief Whip was seriously considering broadening his political platform with a bid for a seat in Europe. But Deputy Kehoe has issued a statement saying he's concentrating on domestic politics for the foreseeable future. However, he hasn't ruled out the possibility of standing for Europe at some future date, saying he has a keen interest in European affairs and would re-visit the issue some time in the future.
