TDs will today vote on a bill to allow for abortions in cases involving fatal foetal abnormalities - with at least one Labour member expected to go against the Government. Wicklow Deputy Anne Ferris says she's prepared to be thrown out of the party - and support the bill sponsored by Socialist TD Clare Daly. At least three other Labour TDs could also choose to vote for the Bill - posing a challenge to Joan Burton's leadership. Labour TDs will meet later today to be briefed by the Attorney General on the legal implications of the Bill - and will be told it's unconstitutional. It comes ahead of a vote that will see at least one member of the party vote against the Government and back the Bill - which supports terminations of pregnancy in cases of fatal foetal abnormalities. Wicklow TD Anne Ferris says she's prepared to be thrown out of the party to support the vote - and more attention will be on at least three other Labour members who have called for legislation in the area in the past. The bill is expected to be defeated by the Government benches.
