Laura Nolan has been named Wexford Festival Opera’s Volunteer of the Year 2026 in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the festival over more than 30 years.
The award was announced by David Lane, Managing Director of Ecclesiastical Ireland, who joined South East Radio’s Morning Mix to celebrate Laura’s dedication and the important role volunteers play in bringing the internationally renowned festival to life.
Laura followed in the footsteps of her sister Clare by becoming involved with the festival and has since become an integral part of its volunteer team. She currently serves as Head of the Programmes Team, helping to coordinate volunteers for events in the National Opera House during the festival.
Her involvement also extends to community opera, lunchtime recitals and external events, reflecting the breadth of her commitment to Wexford’s vibrant cultural scene.
Laura is widely regarded as a great people person, always willing to help patrons with queries, whether big or small. She is also extremely popular among her fellow volunteers, who know her as caring, friendly and approachable, with a wonderful smile that can brighten any room.
The organisers say they are delighted to see Laura receive the 2026 accolade, recognising not only her many years of service but also the warmth and enthusiasm she brings to the festival.
Her award highlights the dedication of the volunteers whose time, knowledge and commitment help make Wexford Festival Opera such a special experience for audiences, performers and the wider community.
