The past, present and future of hurling will be explored by some of the sport’s most respected voices at the Kennedy Summer School in New Ross next month.
“Talking Hurling” will take place at St Michael’s Theatre on Thursday, August 27, as part of the festival’s opening-night programme.
Broadcaster Paul Collins will chair a panel featuring GAA National Head of Hurling William Maher, former Offaly hurler Michael Duignan, four-time All-Ireland camogie winner Ursula Jacob and Wexford’s 1996 All-Ireland winner Tom Dempsey.
The discussion will examine hurling’s history, cultural importance and the challenges and opportunities facing the game.
It comes as Wexford prepares to mark the 30th anniversary of its famous 1996 All-Ireland triumph.
The Kennedy Summer School runs from August 27 to 29, bringing leading voices from politics, journalism, diplomacy, sport and the arts to New Ross.
