Gold prospecting licences have been granted in North Wexford and South Wicklow. IMC Exploration has been granted the exploration licences. The company will undertake prospecting for gold in the Kilmichael area of North Wexford and in the Avoca area of South Wicklow. Previous exploration and historical evidence suggest both areas have potential in gold mining, though no ecomomic deposit has yet been found.
