Lucinda creighton launches new political party
Lucinda Creighton has unveiled her plans for a new political party. She's been joined by financial commentator Eddie Hobbs and around 100 volunteers to launch a new party in around eight weeks' time. The party, doesn't yet have a name, but it does have a hashtag - 'reboot ireland'. The party will have four major policy platforms, but says its members won't be under a party whip for votes on "matters of conscience" like same-sex marriage. Deputy Creighton says she's highly ambitious for what her new party can achieve. Meanwhile speaking ahead of this morning's launch Chairman of Wexford County Council Fianna Fáil's Malcolm Byrne welcomed the creation of the new political party. He says the more choice that's available to the voter the better.
