A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Co. Carlow this morning (Sunday).
The fatal crash happened on the R448 at Ballyknockan, near Leighlinbridge, at approximately 9.30am.
The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 40s, was airlifted to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin, where he was later pronounced dead.
Gardaí said the local Coroner has been informed.
The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and the road, which had been closed for several hours, has since reopened.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were travelling on the R448 at Ballyknockan between 8.45am and 9.45am on Sunday morning to come forward.
Investigating officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone with camera footage, including dashcam or mobile phone recordings, from the area at the time of the collision.
