Independent Ireland MEP for the Midlands Ciaran Mullooly is questioning whether Bord Bia Chair Larry Murrin can continue in his role amid the ongoing controversy over Brazilian beef imports.
The MEP says there is a perceived conflict of interest if Ireland's food promotion agency is linked to companies importing beef from Brazil while Irish farmers face strict production standards.
Speaking on Morning Mix Mullooly says confidence in Ireland's food sector depends on transparency and insists the issue will not disappear regardless of the outcome of the current review
He is also questioning Larry Murrins position
