Prison officers at mountjoy attacked by inmate
Two Mountjoy prison officers are recovering in hospital after being attacked by an inmate this morning. The Irish Prison Service has confirmed that the inmate used an improvised weapon on the officers, who were aged in their mid 30's and mid 40's. They both received slash wounds and were taken to hospital, where their injuries are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening. Gardaí have been notified and the the Irish Prison Service has launched an investigation.
