Professor Angus Dalgleish challenges COVID lockdowns, vaccines and treatments

A British oncologist has strongly challenged the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, questioning lockdowns, vaccinations and the rejection of treatments such as ivermectin.

Professor Angus Dalgleish, an Emeritus Professor of Oncology at St George's, University of London, made the comments during a live interview on South East Radio.

Professor Dalgleish said he stands by his description of the response to COVID as a “scam” arguing that while the virus was a serious infection, its threat was greatly exaggerated and resulted in unnecessary fear and restrictions.

He also claimed SARS-CoV-2 had originated in a laboratory and escaped into the community.

The origin of the virus remains the subject of scientific investigation. The World Health Organisation said in its latest assessment that a laboratory-related incident could not be ruled out but that the weight of currently available evidence supports transmission from animals to humans.

Professor Dalgleish was also strongly critical of lockdown policies, pointing to Sweden, which relied to a greater extent on voluntary measures than many other countries.

During the interview, Professor Dalgleish also criticised former US health official Dr Anthony Fauci and questioned decisions surrounding early treatment of people infected with COVID.

He remains a strong supporter of the use of ivermectin early in the illness and disputed the findings of clinical trials which concluded the drug did not provide a significant benefit.

Professor Dalgleish also raised concerns about COVID vaccines and booster doses.

He said he began questioning boosters after observing relapses among some of his melanoma patients following vaccination and called for further investigation into a possible connection.

Professor Dalgleish maintains that scientific debate around COVID, vaccination and pandemic policy has been restricted and says lessons must be learned before governments respond to any future pandemic
